and not have to describe. we had rain reach sonoma county airport but that is the only reporting station that had anything that was measurable. this is headed from south to north so a very mild flow. temperatures are in the 40's and 50's. most of this rain you see right here looks impressive because it has oranges in it, and it will continue headed up to the north and miss most of sonoma county. here is the entire system, the low to the south is what will come up toward us and as we head through the day we will go from sprinkle to mild temperatures this morning, to rain developing in a lot of areas by noon with more rain by 4:00. we will have it taper to scattered showers headed into the evening and overnight. our temperatures today will be four to six degrees cooler than yesterday. we will have a few left over showers for thursday. we get a brief break on friday before more rain is possible and cooler conditions saturday. be careful. here is sue. >> we go to dublin westbound 580 to san ramon off-ramp reports of a car off the roadway. you do not see slow traffic at this point. there coul

a member of the commission on human rights and a professor emeritus of psychology at sonoma state. i appreciate your emphasis, congressman thompson, and the fact that we're dealing with gun regulation, not the question of gun ownership. i think the questions of regulation are very complicated and difficult to wrestle with. one of the things i want to comment briefly on is the psychological and cultural complexity of the issue. it is pretty clear that the ownership is a deeply psychological issue related to the identity and imagination of both gun owners and anti-gun pacifists. a lot of the work that needs to be done in this area is going to be heavy lifting of the local level. it will have to do with all the areas that have been mentioned. education, mental health, enforcement, public communications, media. i would like to suggest the value of framing the federal policy as one which will support the efforts of the heavy lifting that is going to need to be done at the local level in order to get a handle on this problem. this includes allocating resources. right near sonoma boulevard, highway 29. now, this video was taken by a witness right after it happened. after the truck landed here it burst into flames and there was more -- there were more explosions as the contents of the trailer bust into fire. the driver was pulled out and taken to the hospital where he died. chp says the driver of the pickup truck was not seriously hurt and refused treatment at the scene. the freeway and sonoma boulevard were closed because of the smoke. one woman says she felt the explosion from her house 5 blocks away. >> heard a big explosion. it rattled our metal door in the front of our house, which is in the opposite direction of this explosion, rattled it very badly. my husband said are you at the door. i said no. aren't you. and he said no, and we took off thinking someone was trying to break into the house or that there was an explosion. >> hazardous materials were on hand or teams were on hand to determine if the contents posed a risk to those nearby. news chopper 2 showed us the skidmarks until the truck tipped over. you see the white pickup truck. the

that was parked attracted the attention of sonoma county deputies last night at about 6:30 deputies stopped to investigate a parked car. it was park illegally. it was on the stretch of the road near the avenue on the edge of the sonoma state campus. investigators say it was what they saw inside that prompted them to search the vehicle. >> as they were looking, the interior of the vehicle they noticed there was some blood inside of the -- on the front driver's side of the vehicle which led them to further investigate and they went into the trunk and they found a body. >> reporter: sheriff's deputies went on to say the body is that of a 31-year-old man. this was the scene when they count the older sedan away last night. investigators say the car was associated with a person wanted for questioning in a crime in sonoma county on friday night. investigators wouldn't say more about that but did say the man in the trunk had previous run ins with the law. they'll do an autopsy but this is considered an homicide. what we've learned about the crime scene is the blood found inside the car was not the

have emerged in the case of a body found inside the trunk of an illegally parked car near sonoma state university. we have been working this story all morning. we're live at the sheriff's office in santa rosa with the details. >> reporter: i just spoke with investigators, and they tell me that the body found in that trunk is that of a 31-year-old man, a sonoma county resident, who was actually a suspect in a domestic violence incident just last week in santa rosa. now, the car that he was found stuffed in was on petaluma hill will road which happens to go past sonoma state university but the school was not involved at all. it was about 6:30 last night when two deputies noticed a car in a no parking zone. they got out and actually saw blood in the driver's side seat. that car had been tied to a domestic violence incident last week in santa rosa so that's what raised the red flag. it turns out the car had been sitting there since saturday. investigators saw that the trunk was unlocked and found the victim dead, wrapped in a blanket. now, they're not saying how he was killed, but they do

inside the trunk of that car parked not too far from where we are near the sonoma state university campus. it was a gold-colored older model sedan parked on petaluma road near east tecate avenue. the deputy spotted it and then saw what was possible evidence inside the car. he ran the license plates and discovered that the car was linked to a crime that happened in santa rosa friday. then when he popped open the trunk, he found a body wrapped inside of a blanket. investigator have not released the victim's identify and they are not saying how that individual died and they are not commenting on the evidence. they are looking for a person wanted for questioning in connection with that crime. we've been in touch with the sonoma county sheriff's office and the police. we're hoping to learn more information later this morning. >>> 23-year-old anthony donaldson has been missing since december 24th when police stopped him for suspected drunk driving. they say he jumped into a creek and the coroner will identify a body found there and perform an autopsy. >>> a man accused of killing five people at
